The Contract

Whenever you book and pay for a place on a course or event you are entering into a contract with The/Poetry/Fold. Our side of the bargain is that we deliver what we say we will as stipulated on our website and all other promotional material produced and distributed by The/Poetry/Fold. Your side of the bargain is that you pay for your place and attend as agreed, and per the course schedule or programme.

We operate fair and transparent Terms and Conditions and do our best to provide the best service possible to you. Read our website carefully and ensure you are happy with our policies concerning cancellations and refunds.

Pay particular attention to course descriptions, and make sure you understand what you are paying for. If you are at all unsure whether a course is a good fit for you, then we encourage you to get in touch and talk to us. We will never knowingly sell a course or event that is unsuitable and we will do our level best to answer all your questions.

The/Poetry/Fold reserves the right to refuse a booking and/or end any Contract in the event of a participant breaking the Terms and Conditions. Discriminatory and/or abusive behaviour of any kind will not be tolerated and no refund will be given. We operate robust ground rules at every course and event and every participant will be given access to these at the time of booking and paying to attend a course or event.

Booking a course: the process

There are two steps in our booking process: 1) Registration 2) Payment. When you Register for a course, your name will be added to the reserves list. As soon as we receive your payment, your place on the course will be confirmed.

Paying for your course or event

Courses of 4-8 weeks

For courses running between 4 and 8 weeks (afternoon or evening sessions) we ask you to pay the full fee in advance, or half the fee prior to the start of the course and remaining balance at the halfway point of the course.

Whole/half-day events and workshops

For one-day/half-day events we ask you to pay in advance. The earlier you apply to book the more likely you are to secure a place.

Cancellations & Refunds

If you have to cancel

Your contract with us is that you attend the course/event you have paid/part-paid for. If you have booked a course or event you will have paid or part-paid your courses fees. If – for whatever reason – you need to cancel your booking, all we ask is that you give us as much prior notice as possible. Ideally we ask for 21 days notice to allow plenty of time to offer your place to someone else. If you cancel 21-14 days before the start of your course/event you will receive a full refund. If you cancel with less than 14 days notice you will be given a 50% refund. If you cancel within the 7 days period we will not be able to refund your fees. If we do manage to successfully give your cancelled place to someone else we will always refund your fees minus a standard 10% cancellation charge. However, after the 7 day period any refund or part refund is at our discretion and if we cannot fill your cancelled place we cannot refund.

If you choose to stop attending the course once it has started you will not be offered a refund. Please make sure you are happy with the course/event you have booked and know what to expect – if in doubt call us first for a chat. We cannot refund if you realise half way through that one of our courses is not for you.

If we have to cancel a course or event

Our contract with you is that we supply the course or event as described that you have paid for. However, certain unforeseen circumstances may arise when The/Poetry/Fold may have to cancel a course or event. Our commitment is to full transparency and all our business structures are meant to create full attendance on courses. The main reason for cancellation we can envisage is if we do not have enough participants to run a successful event or course, or there is a problem with the venue. Courses/events with too few participants are not feasible to run. The number of places on any course or event will depend on the size of the venue and its aims and objectives. An intensive poetry masterclass, for example, may have fewer places than a one-day blue-sky motivational event for artists from different disciplines. Our commitment is to deliver what we promise. In the unlikely event of us having to cancel a course or event, we will give you as much notice as possible and will always fully refund any fees you have paid. You can choose to carry-over fees to another course but this is at your discretion and the automatic procedure will be full refund.

The/Poetry/Fold cannot accept responsibility for any inconvenience or costs incurred to you if we have to cancel a course or event.

Offering a cancelled place to another customer

If you cancel within the periods specified and if we can reasonably re-sell your cancelled place to another person then we will provide you with a full refund minus the 10% administration charge outlined above.

The best outcome for The/Poetry/Fold is that our courses or events run fully booked and we will always, therefore, do our utmost to offer a cancelled place on a course or event to another customer, however, to do that we need fair notice. If we manage to fill a cancelled place our usual cancellation policies apply. To avoid complicated refund and cancelation scenarios try and give us as much notice as possible.
